High winds topple trees, cut utility service for some in the area

Becky Drey was awakened around 12:30 a.m. Monday morning by ‘a very loud noise.’ Little did she know until she investigated further that a giant hardwood tree had fallen across the corner of her yard at Fifth and School streets and onto her 1994 Ford Aerostar.

McMINNVILLE — Ronald Scott Catt, 50, a former resident of Dundee and McMinnville recently arrested for and suspected in a string of bank robberies in Texas, has now reportedly confessed to a couple of heists committed years ago much closer to home.
Busy day for fire, police, dispatch

Thursday, Dec. 13, was a busy day for first responders in Newberg and throughout the greater Yamhill County area. The two-alarm fire that broke out that morning at the Critter Cabana pet store was well documented by numerous media outlets, but local emergency agencies also responded to another fire, two vehicle crashes and a host of other incidents within that two-hour period — many of which residents were probably not aware.
