A memorial of sorts was erected outside the Engels’ Dundee home where the family died, with bouquets of flowers and candles placed in the yard and a balloon tied to the mailbox proclaiming “I’m sorry.” A public ceremony for Amy, Bailey and Jackson Engels was held in mid-July in George Fox University’s Bauman Auditorium. A domestic violence fund has been established in their names at Bank of America.
The tragic case of a Dundee man who murdered his wife and two young children, then took his own life, became even more difficult to stomach last week when the results of the official investigation were released by the Yamhill County district attorney’s office.
