Clint Howard, playing Mark Wedloe, starred with Bruno the Bear in the ‘Gentle Ben’ TV series, which was adapted from a novel by the late Walt Morey, a Wilsonville resident. A statue of the famous bear stood for years in Morey’s Landing Park until six teenagers abducted it and dumped it near a Newberg road. The TV series ran from 1967 to 1969.
