Saluting the dead —
The Memorial Day ceremony at Memorial Park is typically attended by many veterans, as well as dignitaries including Old Fashioned Festival princesses.
More than a day off of work and school, more than barbecues and spending time with family and friends, more than Boy Scouts’ barbecue chicken sales and boat races, Memorial Day has a solemn purpose: remembering and honoring the sacrifices of those who have fought — and died — for America.
