A stunning state debut —
Newberg’s Erin Sanders raced her way to 21st place in a personal-best time of 19:27 on Saturday at the 6A state finals in Eugene. In her first season on the team, Sanders earned third-team All-State honors and recorded the fourth-fastest state finals time in school history on the notoriously challenging Lane Community College course.
EUGENE — Making an already memorable debut season as a cross-country runner even more impressive, senior Erin Sanders turned in a historic performance to lead the Newberg girl’s cross-country team to 10th place at the state finals Saturday at Lane Community College.
