Most of Buckley’s fine goes to aid Habitat

Environment — DEQ permits local contractor to donate 80 percent of penalty funds to Newberg-area nonprofit agency

An $8,400 penalty for unlicensed asbestos removal that was assessed to Dave Whitmore Excavating for work done during the demolition of Buckley’s Lockers in 2011 has been paid in full, according to the Department of Environmental Quality and Newberg Area Habitat for Humanity — which received the lion’s share of the funds.
   After being fined more than $8,000 last year by the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), local contractor Dave Whitmore Excavating Inc.
