Some traditional grass seed farmers turn to other commodities during the recession

Stockpile sold —
The 2011-2012 fiscal year was the third-best on record in terms of the amount of grass seed the industry sold. Tons of seed that had been stored in Oregon warehouses during the recession years were also moved.
   The economic downturn changed the landscape for the grass seed industry, which fared worse than many agricultural commodities, and at least one expert’s not sure if it will ever return to its pre-recession state.
