Traveling in style —
This artist’s rendering of the planned Newberg-Dundee bypass bridge over Eighth Street in Dundee shows part of the overall concept design that will be incorporated throughout the project, including the wavy relief pattern on the concrete guardrails and gently sloping metal screening — intended to evoke a meandering river and rolling hills.
It will be years yet before a two-lane bypass is erected in concrete and steel along a four-mile stretch of mostly undeveloped land between Wilsonville Road in Newberg and Highway 99W in Dundee, but the design of that first phase is already well under way, and the public got its first real taste of what the thoroughfare will look like in an update from the Oregon Department of Transportation last week.
