Newberg High School junior Tia Piscitelli has received nearly $4,000 in grants for her “Tia’s Tie Blankies” project, through which she has already donated 250 blankets to Shriners Hospital in Portland, Henderson House and Matt’s Chemo Bags. She will hold a tying partying April 28 at the 4-H Extension office in McMinnville.
Tia Piscitelli never imagined her desire to give back to others the way she had once been helped by her sister would inspire an outpouring of support and adulation, but that’s just what’s happened in the last 18 months.
