PORTLAND — Following the same script it used to good effect in a 40-5 win over West Valley earlier this season, the Newberg girls rugby team dispatched the Panthers 31-20 Saturday at Delta Park to advance to the Rugby Oregon Division II state championship game.

McMINNVILLE — After finishing second in the Pacific Conference for the second consecutive year, Newberg was unable to duplicate its runner-up finish from last year’s district tournament, settling for fourth May 9-10 at Linfield College.
