I am writing a letter of support for three candidates for the Newberg School District Board of Directors — Andy Byerley, Zone 1; Celeste Jones, Zone 4; and Aubrey Nichols, Zone 5.

These candidates have garnered my support because they are all parents with children who have experienced our schools, and their careers all support children.

Both Andy Byerley and Aubrey Nichols are currently serving on the school board, and their election would provide the continuity needed for our schools.

In the early 2000s, I worked with Andy Byerley at the Newberg school district and have personally experienced his high level of integrity. He was an exceptional teacher and has continued to grow in his profession, supporting student learning at the state level.

Aubrey Nichols has been an attentive board member who asks great questions and shares her experience in schools in the board meetings. She has been the president of the Edwards volunteer organization and works in K-12 education.

Celeste Jones is a behavioral health director at the Children’s Clinic and is formerly an associate professor and program director at George Fox University. She has board leadership experience from serving on the Oregon Board of Psychology.

Please join me in voting for these three outstanding candidates for the Newberg school board.
