McMINNVILLE – Folks that have an abundance of expired prescription drugs will have an opportunity to dispose of them properly in late May.
The Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office will host a drug takeback event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 30 at the OSU Extension headquarters at 2050 N.E. Lafayette Ave.
In partnership with Inmar Intelligence, a Portland-based supply chain specialist, the sheriff’s office is sponsoring the event “as a public service to help keep prescription drugs out of the hands of kids or others who might abuse them,” a release said.
Accepted will be medications in any dosage form in their original container or a sealed bag.
The agencies can’t, however, accept illicit drugs; herbal remedies, vitamins or supplements; animal medicines; thermometers; intravenous (IV) solutions; needles, EpiPens or sharp objects of any kind; medicate waste of any kind; personal care products; medical devices; batteries; pet pesticide products; or biologics.
Individuals who cannot make it to the takeback event need not worry, though, as there are kiosks located throughout the area where deposits may be made. To locate one, visit medtakebackoregon.org.
